Overview

The Director of Pricing is a key leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive pricing strategies that drive profitability, competitiveness, and long-term growth for CPI across both established business lines and emerging products. This role plays a critical part in shaping CPI’s market approach by designing market-appropriate pricing models that include traditional cost-plus, value-based, and bundled subscription pricing frameworks. Positioned within the CFO Organization and reporting directly to the SVP of FPA + Strategy this role works cross-functionally to ensure pricing strategies align with company objectives and customer value, while leading a team to ensure excellence in pricing execution that helps the company win in the marketplace.

Responsibilities

Strategic Pricing Leadership
Lead the development of pricing strategies across CPI’s product and service portfolio, including in our core manufacturing and personalization services businesses subscription-based offerings and pricing models for new verticals. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform pricing decisions and maintain CPI’s competitiveness in established markets while supporting growth in emerging markets.


Lead Pricing Execution
Lead team of three in execution of pricing models to support customer jobs, proposals and RFPs working with sales, sales operations, business unit leaders, and finance to win business in our card production, card personalization, and in new products and services. Ensure timely delivery and pricing that aligns with strategy.


Process Improvement, Management and Reporting
Establish pricing controls, tools, and processes including pricing playbooks, approval frameworks, and performance dashboards. Work cross functionally with Sales, Sales Operations, Production, Finance, Accounting, and others to ensure/build efficient processes are in place to price efficiently, acquire appropriate approvals, ensure data in pricing models is accurate and up to date, and that we can bill effectively for our pricing models and prevent billing leakage. Develop and provide regular reporting to senior leadership on impact of pricing on the business.

 

New Business Model Design
Develop, test, and implement bundled subscription and other pricing models tailored to customer segments and market demands in partnership with Sales, Product, Production and Finance teams.


Mentorship and Team Leadership
Lead and develop the pricing team fostering a data-driven and collaborative culture.

 

Support executive presentations with pricing insights and data visualizations.
Participate in customer and sales training sessions to educate stakeholders on pricing strategies and value-based selling.

 

Direct Reports:  1 Pricing Manager and 2 Pricing analysts

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including proficiency in Excel, SQL, and pricing software
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills; able to influence and engage stakeholders across all organizational levels
  • Deep understanding of pricing methodologies including value-based pricing, cost-plus, tiered pricing, and subscription bundling.
  • Highly adaptable with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and strategy execution.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams; leadership experience in cross-functional settings.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial mindset with a continuous improvement orientation.
  • This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and is entrusted to make strategic pricing decisions within established financial and operational guidelines. While final approval for significant pricing model changes or deviations resides with the SVP FP&A + Strategy or the executive team, the Director of Pricing is empowered to propose, develop, and execute pricing strategies with limited oversight.

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field required. MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in pricing strategy and execution, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial B2B environment. Experience with subscription and recurring revenue pricing models is highly desired.
  • Certifications: Certified Pricing Professional (CPP) is preferred but not required.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Ability to talk, hear, and see to interact with coworkers and use standard office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift or move objects up to 15 pounds.
  • May require limited travel or attendance at meetings in different office locations.
